Last week, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released its revised December 2010 metro and state non-farm employment estimates, allowing a more accurate analysis of job growth for each state and metro area in 2010.
These revisions reflect additional sample data that was unavailable in February, which we summarized last month.
The revised data shows some differences from what was previously issued. The new report is more positive and is summarized below.
The current estimates show good news for 43 states, the District of Columbia and 239 (65%) of the nation’s metro areas, all of which saw net job gains in 2010.
- The five states with the greatest number of net new jobs during 2010 are:
- Texas: 209,800
- California: 66,800
- Pennsylvania: 64,200
- New York : 51,300
- Illinois: 39,700
- The top MSA employment gainers by year’s end over January’s start are:
